Word Clouds and Cycle Update

Thank you to Luna for this link. I love my cloud!

You can make your own at Wordle

Also an update. EC yesterday gave us 10 eggs. I was very pleased and even more pleased that the phone call this morning was to tell us that 9 had fertilised. Transfer set for Monday at 1 or, if on Monday there are 5 8-celled, good looking embryos, we will go for blast on Wednesday.

I was really hoping for a blast transfer but after speaking to the clinic I'm not so sure. I don't think blast transfers are done very often here and I certainly don't want to risk my embryos on someones learning curve.

I was going to wait until Monday before stressing over this, but that would mean having to decide on the spot. I need a plan, just in case. So, if I do get to make the choice what should I do? Play safe? Take a chance? Any advice? What would you do?

9 out of 10 - that IS good news. Those must have been some good eggs there. Sounds like a good protocol for you! I'm glad for that, I know that's step #1 of a load off your mind.

I'm biased about the Day 3 vs Day 5transfers. My clinic rarely does Day 5. You have to have something like 5 8 cells that are good quality on Day 3 to even consider it. Mine have only ever been 7 or 6 or worse cells on Day 3. But somehow I always like the idea of sticking the embryos in my body sooner rather than later.

I DO understand about holding out for Day 5 to know which are "best". You'll have to decide on your past performance and on how many look good when they make you decide. I guess I've had it easy by never having to decide.

Do what gives you peace and will leave you with the least amount of questioning yourself. Try to work through each scenario. That often helps me.

Good luck! I'll be checking back in on you, when yo udo post, but no pressure! This needs to be a good cycle for you.

So good to catch up with you!

Also v pleased your cycle seems to be going so well so far. 9 out of 10 is amazing.

I used to be hung up over blast transfers. I've never actually made it there. For my last cycle they were going to try for one but it became obvious that we had a clear winner amongst the group so in it went.

The only reason to hold on is to see which embryo is doing best. If it's clear then no need to wait. Embryo's are always going to be better off inside a warm uterus and not in a petri dish.

I do hope things keep going well. Can't wait to hear how it goes.

What a great fertilization rate! We only went to blast once in our cycles, it was nerve wracking. We had 10 embies on day 3 then down to 3 on day 5 for transfer. Since then I am a big fan of transferring the best embies back on day 3 to their natural environment. Although, I have zero success rate, so what do I know.

Good luck with transfer! I am really hoping that this is a successful cycle for you.

great cloud! and even better fert. rate!

I'm with everyone else on the day 3 vs 5 transfer. my RE has always said the embryos want to be back in the uterus earlier, but you can see why they'd want to weed out some of them so your picks could be better. ask as many questions as you can, and see what you're most comfortable with.

wishing you all the best!

Sounds like great fertilization! I don't have any advice on 3 vs. 5 day, but just wanted to say I'm crossing my fingers either way.

Nine out of ten! Wow! Congratulations!!

My two cents worth ... I believe embryos are better off inside you than in a laboratory. I'd feel comfortable about putting them in at Day 3. Mine go in at Day 2 which is even earlier.

Thinking of you my dear.

9 is great news :)

My only thought about D5 transfers would be that the freeze/thaw successes for blasts is lower (probably more so in clinics that don't routinely do it) and might affect your FET odds.

Also you risk losing embryos on the way to D5, of course.

My clinic pretty much only does D2 transfers and freezes the rest at that point.

Good luck with whatever you decide,

J

Well done on 9/10 fertilising! Looking forward to hear your next great number :) I want to go to blast next but only as a "try something new" approach. Great success is also had with day 2/3 embies. Biting my nails waiting for your next post!

Devil's Advocate here...

I am jealous that you get to try to get to blasts! My clinic pushed for blasts if there were enough, more than 5 Grade Ones I think. We never made it to that.

So I interpret your results to mean you have a lot of great embryos. I always figured, maybe incorrectly, that if a 3 day didn't make it to blast then it likely wouldn't make it to implantation. So maybe it is better to know that up front.

Fingers crossed for you...

P.S. Thanks for your comment and your empathy.

So pleased about your fert report...go girl!!

I have never made it to Day 5. When I sit back and think about it now I think "go Day 5 Carrie" but then I know when I am in the same position I just want them in AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Loads of luck.
